In 2011, Dr. Pete Killcommons was a keynote speaker at the First Armenian International Telemedicine Congress, where he spoke about the process of setting up telemedicine technology in Afghanistan.
The event, which took place in Yerevan, was organized by the Armenian Association of Telemedicine, Russian-Armenian University, and the Union of Information Technology Enterprise. Considered a “historical milestone” by those involved, ARMTELEMED: Road to the Future brought in 15 speakers from around the world, offering more than 30 presentations on information relevant to the field.
The congress welcomed nearly 300 participants and 53 international guests, who represented 20 countries. Attendees immersed themselves in two days of sessions and panel discussions, an expansive product and service exhibition, and a daylong seminar delivered by the International School of Telemedicine and eHealth.
