For the past two decades Peter Killcommons has served as Chief Executive Officer of Medweb, a San Francisco firm that offers innovative teleradiology, telemedicine, and medical imaging solutions. In August 2012, Medweb notably tested its lifesaving mobile health technologies at the Research and Experimentation for Local and International Emergency and First Responders (RELIEF) event. This four day program is held annually at Marine Corps’ Camp Roberts in Paso Robles, California.
Co-hosted by the Naval Postgraduate School and the National Defense University, the RELIEF event enabled Medweb to perform testing of its field-deployable digital exam kit and integrated mobile-based patient registration system in an operational setting. The portable device and integrated software are vital for first responders to effectively identify, track, and triage patients in emergency situations. This end-to-end casualty tracking system eases the distinct challenges faced by emergency caregivers throughout the process of transferring victims from point-of-casualty to tertiary care facilities.
